Uthish Ganesh is a teacher, a coach, and an organizer who has spent most of his life working for Scarborough Centre. He is running for city council because he has watched this ward get overlooked for too long, and he knows exactly what it takes to change that.
He knows what it costs
to raise a family here.
Uthish grew up in Ward 21, in Toronto Community Housing. His mother raised him on roughly twenty thousand dollars a year, through cancer and recovery, in the same ward he still lives in today. He knows what it costs to raise a family here because he watched his mother do it.
He completed a Masters degree at the University of Toronto, studied at Oxford University, became a teacher and came back to Scarborough Centre. Today he is a department head of English, a curriculum developer, and a basketball coach who runs early morning practices. His work has never stopped at the classroom door. He has run food programs, organized town halls that draw real crowds, and turned resident complaints into real fixes — including a dangerous intersection near a school that got a safety fix after he brought a city official out to hear from the community directly.
Representation is the floor,
not the finish line.
Scarborough Centre does not just need a councillor who is from here. It needs one who delivers, and who shows residents how the system works so they can hold it accountable after election day.
